Postby Papelbon Fire » Wed Apr 22, 2009 10:48 am

Mixed 12-Team Yahoo 5x5 (H,R,HR,AVG,SB,W,K,SV,ERA,WHIP)
Please take a look, I'm a little concerned and thinking about pursuing a trade to swap out some meat for some fresh shelf life:
C-Buck,Shoppach,Wieters
1B-Howard,Loney
2B-Utley
3B-Beltre
SS-A.Ramirez
OF-Werth,Hunter,Burrell,Granderson
SP-Halladay,Lester,Washburn,Kawakami,Floyd,Jimenez,Masterson,Price,Matsuzaka(DL)
RP-Wilson

Any help? WHIR

Position players are solid, especially is Wieters gets called up. Could use a boost in avg since Utley is your only guarantee to hit over .300. Pitching staff should be fine if Dice K comes back OK and Price gets called up sooner than later. Might want to trade for a closer though.

Are you punting saves?

Your offense looks good with the Howard/Utley combo. Is James Loney on the bench or is there an IF spot for him? If Loney has a place to start, that should help you out with AVG.

I'm not a Justin Masterson fan, there's a reason the Red Sox put him in the bullpen. His sidearm delivery is way more effective against righties. Washburn is basically average, but good rotation filler. With Daisuke out, your pitching is thin beyond Halladay-Lester, but you should be OK.

Yeah I agree with Masterson, he was a pick up since he is filling Dice-K's rotation spot till he comes back and he had a good outing his last go. But I think I'm overlooking this a little too much after an 0-2 start in my league. I'll start gaining some concern if that trend continues.

I'm not a big fan of Beltre or Alexei Ramirez so I would look to upgrade at SS and/or 3rd. You don't have much trade bait possibly a package of Loney with either Beltre or Alexei? I agree with a previous poster, if Dice-K comes back and pitches well you will be in good shape. Look to pickup Rafael Soriano, he will get a bunch of saves for the Braves.

I wouldn't trade Alexei, at least until he strings some games together. Fairly well rounded team, but I would either try to get some saves together, or package Wilson with a C for something you could actually use

If you are going to punt saves trade Wilson, like all steady closers he has a lot of value. I would package him with either Ramirez or Beltre and send him packing! Try and land a solid 3rd baseman or SS.
