Berkman/Young for Reyes Trade? WHIR

Postby Sportsmonkey » Tue Apr 21, 2009 10:14 pm

16 team mixed 5x5 roto

My team is hurting a bit in speed, and I have Pujols and Berkman as my 1B/CI duo.

I've been offered Reyes, Dan Murphy, James Loney, and Motte for Berkman, Michael Young, Overbay, and Dejesus.

I know Motte has almost zero value, but I have no closers and there is nobody available who might be a closer (nearly every setup man is on a roster).

Thoughts?

I think you are losing that trade. Whats the rest of your lineup look like?

I really don't think its a bad trade. If you need speed, I'd definitley take Reyes/Loney over Berkman/Young. Murphy and Dejesus are a wash IMO, and Overbay is platooning now with Millar, so losing him shouldn't be too big a deal.

I'd do the deal. Reyes is heads above the rest. Once your past Berkman, Young, Reyes, Murphy the rest are just waiver wire throw-ins. If you can get Reyes for that price, I'd jump all over it.

I actually don't like this trade for you. While Reyes is a top SS, I would much rather have the production from Berkman and Young than the production of just Reyes. I would try to trade for some cheaper maybe Victorino.

I'd make that move. Try to work a deal for another CI to replace Berkman, but that's a good price for Reyes.
