Definitely splitting hairs here... but I'd slightly lean toward Escobar. Escobar's likely the bigger injury risk, but he's also showing great zip on his fastball which leads me to believe he's at least ok for this season. Two factors weighed into my slightly leaning toward Escobar... one my bias since I own him... joking, but I do own him, so take what I say with a grain of salt I suppose... one that he's pitching in a much much weaker division and the only team/situation to possibly consider sitting him in is facing Texas at Texas. The other factor, possibly more important for me, is that I think Escobar will get more starts. The reason I think Escobar gets more starts is that he's a little closer to returning to the Angels, and they desperately need him. Ervin Santana pitched another disasterpiece today and they've had a revolving door at the back end of the rotation since the tragic loss of Nick Adenhart. I'd be a little worried if I'm a fantasy owner of Smoltz that they baby him along, perhaps to showcase Brad Penny a bit more to try and deal him, and also perhaps skipping a few starts here and there to keep him fresh for the postseason (since ultimately assuming they make the playoffs, that's what the Sox really care about). All in all, both guys do appear to be great stash options, but I'd give a photo finish lead to Escobar.
