"Talent evaluators" have been hating on Alderson recently because of his declining K rate (to make the deal look better for the Giants?), but.....

Alderson: 84.1 IP, 5 HR, 16 BB, 53 Ks (5.7 K/9)
Bumgarner: 81.0, 5 HR, 24 BB, 59 Ks. (6.6 K/9)

If you look at Bumgarner's actual pitches, his K/BB rate, etc., it appears as if he's declining as he moves up the ladder. Either that or he's working on things.

bumgarner is a year younger than alderson. up until very recently he was a 19 year old in AA, plus he throws harder than alderson does. i dont think they're really comparable as prospects.
