Morrow for Verlander and Holland

Postby n8bw7 » Tue Apr 21, 2009 11:23 am

I'm in a 12-team AL-only keeper league. I have five SPs and my four relievers are Papelbon, Morrow, Arredondo and Balfour. Looking to get more wins and Ks, and I have a chance to get Verlander (and Texas pitching prospect Derek Holland) for Morrow. Morrow is $16, Verlander is $18, locked up through 2011. The other manager will throw in Holland, who I can hold as a minor leaguer until I decide to replace someone on my roster. I think it's a good deal, but the downsides are that I'm stuck paying Verlander's salary for two more years if he doesn't bounce back, plus if Morrow develops to his full potential, I could look pretty stupid in a couple of years. I'm tempted to do it because it's tough to make trades in our league, I'm always complaining about it and this guy made me a decent offer.

This would only leave you with one closer, no way.

Yeah, but most teams in our league only have one (12-team AL-only). Two is a luxury, plus I figure Arredondo or Balfour will grab some saves, and I can always grab a guy later on waivers. There's always some bum who ends up racking up saves.

No. Morrow will be as good as Soria or Nathan.
