Travis Snider Pickup? #1 Waiver WHIR

Postby timvegas » Tue Apr 21, 2009 6:14 am

I feel like I have pretty strong team but Travis Snider was just dropped in my 12 Team Mixed H2H League. Should I use my #1 Waiver Claim to get him? And who do I drop?

My Team:

C: Molina
1B: Morneau
2B: Chase Utley
3B: Wiggington
SS: Rollins
2B/SS: Iwamura
!B/3B: Loney
OF (5): Ibanez, Ludwick, Ethier, Hart, McClouth
UTIL: Votto

BE: Wieters
DL: A-Rod

P (9): Nolasco, Kazmir, Jimenez, Kawakami, Buehrle, Pettitte, Wellemeyer, Harang, Davies, Rodney and Corpas are my Closers
DL: Hoffman

Considering your OF depth, using your #1 waiver wire on Travis Snider may be a reach . . . this guy can rake it, but he's yound a rarely plays Vs LHP . . .
I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!

Good points above, but not necessarily looking at whole picture. Will Snider be that much better than Loney? As I would move Votto to Loney's spot and put Snider at Util.

Cito has mentioned he may stop platooning bautista, if this is the case and he moves Snider up from the 9th hole, then it may be a good pick up. Also obviously if its a keeper league. Snider is a big part of theier future, moreso than Lind.

All that being said you are pretty strong and does Snider give you enough upside to give up # 1 WW

It's hard to tell how Snider's season will develop - you'd expect 21-year olds to have ups and downs. If I were you, I wouldn't use that good of a waiver position on an uncertainty.

I think it depends if you think Lind, Scutaro etc keep it up all season long.

My guess is that they wont, meaning Snider will move up from the 9 hole eventually.
