Use #2 waiver on Victorino? WHIR

Postby schmidty » Tue Apr 21, 2009 2:26 am

I was surprised to see him dropped. This is a 12-team Yahoo 5x5 H2H redraft. I know it seems like a no-brainer, but to my eyes Victorino doesn't really help my lineup that much. I think I have plenty of speed, and 4 solid outfielders. From past experience I think this league will see more surprising drops, and what I'd really love to see is some good (but temporarily slumping) pitching dumped.

On the "pro" side of the argument is that Victorino is highly regarded by many, and I might be able to turn him (via a trade) into something that addresses my teams weaknesses better. This is my team:

C: Ianetta
1B: Votto
2B: Kinsler
3B: ARam
SS: Rollins
OF: Bay, Ordonez, Abreu
Util: Damon
Bench: Felipe Lopez (2B/3B/SS/OF), Sandoval (C/1B/3B)

SP: Billingsley, Nolasco, Danks, Cueto, Wandy Rodriguez, Volstad, Maholm, Kawakami, Kelvim Escobar (DL)
RP: Rivera, Capps

If I picked him up, I guess I'd drop Kawakami or Maholm. It might be a moot point, since the one team with a better waiver position than me is hurting at OF. He's the Vlad owner, and I've seen him starting Ty Wiggington in the outfield on occasion.

Leave a link and I'll answer yours.

I'd burn the waiver and drop Kawakami. He might not fit your team but still has good value which can be used to trade.

I would burn the waiver on Victorino as well. Even if you platoon him in our outfield for awhile...he is going to help your team. I would drop Maholm (even though he has had a great start I think he will cool off and he doesn't get the Ks like Kawakami does).

Even in a league that only starts 9 bats, Victorino should not be dropped this early in the season. Have to go for it - either Kawakami or Maholm would be fine to drop for him.

Help with mine?

if you ever had an injury to one of your of's he would be your best backup to plug in.....way better then Damon too

Def go get Victorino, if not to keep him away from other teams.

I'd drop Volstad for Victorino.
