I jump on trade 1. Such an upgrade at SS, and Reyes is easy to shop if you need to upgrade something else later on. Sucks dealing Utley, but I think people jump on him too fast.

Thanks for the response, I was actually leaning toward #2 or none at all, I think utley is alot to give up within that trade. Any other opinions?

Hey man, if I were you I would not be looking to make any blockbuster trades so early in the year, players haven't even started hitting yet. Also, your team is really solid don't shake things up so much with a huge trade, especially this early in the year. The only area I think you should look to improve would be your outfield its lacking power. I would look to deal Derrek Lee, big name player who is on the decline. Trade #1 I would not do, the dropoff between Utley and Hill is too great, Nathan is much more valuable than Zambrano, Wells and Magglio Ordonez are very similar, Reyes is better than Jeter but the other players involved make it totally unfair. Trade #2 is better, I would strongly consider it. This is how I look at it, Cabrera and Pujols are a wash (Pujols is better but not enough to make a huge difference,) Felix is better than Anibal Sanchez, Pence is better then Swisher but its close. You are gaining Loney and Cano for basically nothing.

Those are both huge deals.....I would actually consider #1, I don't think the drop off to Hill will be as large as some think. Hill was ranked in top 7 2B )offensively) last year before getting a concussion - 50 games into the season. He is back with a vengence this year and expect him to elevate himself into Top 5 talks. As for Mags and VW, pretty even - tho as a Jays fan hope VW keeps up his hot start. You lose Nathan for a declining , IMO, Zambrano but you can always move him to a Cubs fan later on. And Reyes is heads above Jeter (overrated IMO as he plays for the Yanks and the only reason he is valued so high) mediocre power numbers, good avg., not a lot of BB, mid range RBI.

LOL Elsy, you should try and be objective when giving advice. You should try and put your team allegiance aside and recognize the HUGE difference between Chase Utley and Aaron Hill. That being said Nathan>Zambrano, Magglio=Wells, and yes Reyes is much better than Jeter. So he is is basically giving up everything in order to gain the difference between Reyes and Jeter, totally not worth it!

My objectivity is fine. I would say the same thing if I weren't a Jays fan, or if Hill wasn't a Jay. Has nothing to do with it. All I said is that the difference by the end of this season between Utley and HIll is not going to be as substantial as you think it is. Yes, obviously Ultey right now is ahead of Hill but read what I said, Hill will elevate his game and get his numbers up there with the like of Utley, Pedroia and other elite 2B.

I guess you are entitled to your opinion, but then how could you say that the difference between Jeter and Reyes is going to be that huge? It's the same thing, I have Hill on my team and I think he is a talented player, but he won't keep this up for the whole season and Chase Utley is a first round, All-Star player who has shown he can play at this high level year in and year out.

This is only Hill's 3rd full season and shown that he can hit the ball out of the park and drive in runs. 17HR 78RBI .291 average in his 2nd full season is pretty good. He was on his way to eclipsing all those when he got a concussion in '08. He can hit and he will hit, yes that is my opinion but I have also followed his progression and have watched him play for the last 3 years almost every game of the season, that he has played.

Yes, the 2 extra years are an advantage to Chase, however it wasn't until his 3rd full season that he broke out and became the force that he is now. Also they had similar numbers their first 2 seasons, not saying Hill will become a 30+HR 100RBI guy but prolly an extremely high chance of being 20-25HR and 85-95 RBI which isn't that much of a fall off. Averages will be around the same plus Hill will get a few extra SB's but not as many BB.
