His Papelbon/ESantana or Papelbon/Lackey for my Haren

Postby dabeave27 » Mon Apr 20, 2009 10:19 pm

Been offered Papelbon and Ervin Santana or Papelbon and Lackey for my Haren. I need both SP and RP so I would like Papelbon; would you rather have Santana or Lackey at this point?

League info in sig.

Ervin Santana is a top 10 SP when healthy . . . and his recovery has been smooth. Considering your closer situation, I'd do this trade in a heartbeat. ;-D
I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!

Santana. And you are getting a steal. I hope no one veto's it.

I'd pass on both. Haren for Papelbon seems fair, but give me the top 5 ace any day over the best overall closer. I like Ervin, but I also think that MCL could continue to be a point of discomfort all year long. Lackey is somewhat safer given he had similar elbow trouble last year and pitched relatively well, but there isn't much distinguishing his fastball from his change-up.

I'd rather shop Derrek Lee for a closer instead, even if it means settling for a Broxton or Valverde type.
