Ludwick for Bedard?

Postby pangbones » Mon Apr 20, 2009 9:00 pm

I'd get Bedard and Old man Thome for Ludwick and Oliver Perez. I need to upgrade at pitching. I'm not trying to "sell him high", I'm a true believer that last year was no fluke. I think I should be able to get someone better than Bedard, but no one else will give me anything close to Bedard for him. If I did do this trade, I would slide Hawpe in at OF, and would rotate Thome, Werth and Taveras in at Util as needed. My league uses OBP not Avg, so that's a big plus for Thome. What do you think?

C - McCann
1B - A Gonzalez
2B - Uggla
3B - Wright
SS - Furcal
OF - Braun, C Lee, Ludwick
Util - Pena, Hawpe
DL - E Santana

Bench - Taveras, Werth

SP - Haren, Meche, J Shields, Joba, Maine, R Johnson
RP - Qualls, Rodney
Bench - Oliver Perez, J Sanchez, J Zimmermann, T Hanson, Lindstrom, BJ Ryan

10 Team, 6*6 (OBP and K's for hitters and L's for Pitchers), H2H, Keeper (3 players, at least 1 hitter and 1 pitcher)

I am having a difficult time with this one. You are getting an upgrade at Pitcher but downgrade at Hitter. Personally, I don't like Thome, but then again, I haven't been involved in a league that has OBP as a stat. I like Ludwick's ability and lineup position batting near Pujols. Ludwick will get even more at bats this year with Skip Schumaker moving to 2B. I worry about losses with Bedard and the Mariner's lineup (even thought they are off to a good start). I guess I would go with Bedard and Thome b/c I feel that Bedard, if healthy, is more productive as a pitcher than Ludwick is as a hitter.

I absolutely do this -- I think Bedard has to be determined to stay healthy, Thome is steady, Ludwick is good but no long track record, and Perez is an absolute fantasy headache IMO.... go for it.

I like the trade. Thome isn't a "sexy" pick, but he will probably post similar numbers to Ludwick. Only downside is that he is only DH eligible in most leagues, which handcuffs your roster a bit.

I like the trade for you also. Bedard (if he stays healthy) is a huge upgrade over Perez and I still think Thome will put up some decent stats for you.

thanks for the help on mine.

Thx for the help

I think your Sp looks just fine, but...you do have hawpe to cover Ludwick and you do get Thome in return to insert into that U spot when he heats up.

On tthe other side Bedard is injury prone but looks stellar. I say take the chance and get Bedard. I do not own Bedard in any league but want him becasue from what I have read, bedard feels great and could put up top 10 SP #'s in a heartbeat.

Good luck man.

I don't like it. Your league is so shallow, you shouldn't have to give up Ludwick to get a good SP. Thome is going to push another good hitter to the bench, so there is no upside there.

It is a decent deal. I dont like Perez at all, so giving up him is a plus. Thome has more value in a league with OBP. Your hitting seems deep enough that you can afford the loss of Ludwick. Bedard would definitely help your staff if he stays healthy.I'd do it.

well, the best player in this deal is bedard. i'm not crazy about thome either, but even less so about perez. i think all in all, it's a deal worth making.

thanks for helping me.

I'd do it. Thome will still give you nice stats this year, and you get a huge upgrade at SP with Bedard.

Please help me..
