Considering trading pitching for hitter - Will try to HIR

Postby Johnny Deuce » Mon Apr 20, 2009 3:18 pm

Hey Folks

I'm in a 12 team, H2H league. It is the first year of a keeper league. We will keep two batters and two pitchers. I plan on keeping Cabrera/Teixeira and maybe Hamels/Hernandez or Greinke for next season.

Wasn't too happy with my draft because my OF is lacking a major hitter. My team will improve a little bit as Mauer returns, and I just picked up Aaron Hill. I am in 8th place after two weeks.

I would be willing to trade any of my pitchers if the trade was balanced. People would try to buy low on Hamels, so I'm leaning more towards offering King Felix. I really don't want to trade Greinke after his great start to the season.

So, I'm looking for my best trade options for my pitching staff. Any recommendations on who I should get rid of, and who not to offer. Below my team I included the rosters from a couple of teams that are light on pitching.

The stats are;
R, H, HR, RBI, SB, K, AVG, OBP
IP, W, L, SV, BB, K, ERA, WHIP

Here is my team;

1B - Mark Teixeira
2B - Dan Uggla
3B - Miguel Cabrera
SS - Derek Jeter
OF - Ichiro Suzuki
OF - Hunter Pence
OF - Jeff Francoeur

BN - Jordan Schafer
BN - Adrian Beltre

Team #1 (Currently in 10th place)
I'd love to get Quentin from this guy.

C - Victor Martinez
1B - Albert Pujols
2B - Howie Kendrick
3B - Garrett Atkins
SS - JJ Hardy
OF - Nick Swisher
OF - Shane Victorino
OF - Carlos Quentin
Util - Lance Berkman
BN - Brad Hawpe
BN - Hideki Matsui
BN - Curtis Granderson

SP - Javier Vazquez
RP - Francisco Cordero

I would agree that you need an outfield bat. The good news is that you can afford to deal a starting pitcher and that the guy who has Quentin desperately needs a good SP. I think there is a good chance he would deal Quentin for an SP since he can replace him with Granderson. I like the Felix deal, see if he goes for it. The problem with team #2 is that he probably won't deal Matt Kemp or Sizemore and Crawford/B.J. Upton won't give you the hitting that you want.

Thanks for the help.

I offered him Felix for Quentin.

I didn't like team #2 for a trade either. Sizemore is too good to be traded, and Upton/Crawford both have issues.
