so I was looking at last years MVP and trying to determine weather he deserved this award or if this was simply a case of east coat bias and the fact the people just simply seem to like him..

Well, comparing him to Youk won't get rid of any East Coast bias.

His numbers compare pretty well to Morneau; I'd call their lines about a wash, but the fact that Pedroia did it as a 2B tilts the scale.
