One too many SP's, who to deal??

Postby Leesville Sluggers » Sun Apr 19, 2009 10:52 pm

10 Team mixed league, 5x5 Roto scoring.

My pitching staff has performed pretty well so far. Im in the top three in all 5 pitching categories for my league. Only problem is that I have one too many SP's eating up my innings cap. Im already at +20 IP for the year, so obviously Im going to have to be more selective with my starts, ie. skipping the least favorable one/two of the week....or trade a SP for an offensive player.

Saves are very competitive in my league, most teams have atleast 3 servicable closers minimum. Im doing well in the saves category due to Bell having 7 so far, but should i try to trade a SP and upgrade someone like cordero or rodney? Or should i look at a trade to upgrade a position player like zimmerman at 3B?

So bottom line is, should i keep a 6th starter for insurance sake, or trade one to upgrade other areas? If trading is the best option, what is my biggest need...3B?? Thanks and WHIR.

C- B. Molina
1B- A. Gonzalez
2B- Utley
SS- Rollins
3B- Zimmerman
OF- M. Ramirez, C. Crawford, Granderson,
Util- Cantu
BN- Adam Jones, Mauer
SP- Haren, Beckett, Billingsley, Vazquez, Garza, Kershaw
RP- Jenks, Cordero, Bell, Rodney

Kershaw is going to have his innings limited... Just something to keep in mind. I would hang tight for a bit, then package one of my SP's, maybe Garza with Molina to the guy with a slumping C, say Iannetta since you are getting Mauer back in a few.
Fantasy sports are ruled by the 50-50-90 rule...

Anytime you have a 50/50 choice between two players, 90% of the time, you'll get it wrong

Cordero was shaky in spring but looks good now, Rodney looks great, but that can change..

I think your positions is fine..If you want you can always put Zimmerman on the bench, put cantu at 3rd, and Mauer and Jones at the UTIL. spot..

But if you want to upgrade at 3rd I would trade Zimm, and one of your SP's...I think SP's are easier to get on WW then Saves...

I agree with what chinch said about Innings and Kershaw..

I think you should wait out just a little longer and see what Zimm could do...

Can ya help me out too please
