How many teams in your league?

I would have to pass on Kawakami right now. The strikeouts look good, but so far his ERA and WHIP have been less than stellar. Oswalt will come around and once Escobar and Smoltz get healthy i think you will be in good shape.

Hmm, Im familar with 10 team leagues, so im not sure how deep pitching is in a 12 teamer. Is Edwin Jackson available? He has looked sharp so far this season. Just to throw so more names out there: Jurrjens, Lohse, Volstad, Saunders??

Kawakami isnt bad, but i just wouldnt use a #1 waiver on the guy, unless the WW is completely void of servicable SP talent.

Nah, all those guys are gone. Best available is Jason Marquis and someone just dropped Zack Duke. We have a pretty deep league because we start 5 SP and one flex P which almost everyone uses as a SP because we count IP as a scoring category, so there are a lot of pitchers drafted and taken off waivers very frequently.

....so, I'm not sure he'll clear waivers...

Not worth it in a 12 teamer. He is barely worth a roster spot. If you like him, wait it out. He'll clear waivers almost definitely. If he doesn't, it is not a big loss. There are plenty of options to fill out your roster in 12 team league.
