How To Improve WHIR

Postby Iakovos11 » Sun Apr 19, 2009 3:49 pm

6x6 (OBP and Shutouts) H2H 10 Team

My Team:
C - Iannetta
1b - Morneu
2b - Alexei Ramirez
3b - Aramis Ramirez
SS - Rollins
OF - BJ Upton
OF - Magglio Ordonez
OF - Adam Lind
UTIL - Votto
BENCH - Jermaine Dye
BENCH - Scutaro
SP - Bedard
SP - Volstad
RP - Valverde
RP - Soria
P - Mike Gonzalez
P - Frank Fransisco
P - Chad Billingsley
P - Peavy
P - Matt Cain
P - Meche

Not really sure the best way to go about improving this team. Rollins and Ramirez's slow starts have hurt me. I think I'm really lacking hr power, as I've been killed in both HR's and RBI's each week. Suggestions?

is Dye a regular starter? If you are struggling in the HR and RBI categories why not put him as a starter.

Also BJ Upton left today's game with a quad strain.

are there any worthwhile players with potential upside on the WW?

I like your pitching staff. You might have some flexibility in moving a pitcher for a big bat.

I am in the same spot as I am struggling with HR and RBI. I think my team has the fire power but right now just not hitting at all.

I like your team. You've got a few guys struggling early but don't panic.

I agree that Dye should be starting (over Lind). Maybe you could move a closer plus another guy for an upgrade at 3B or OF. I like your pitching too. With the kind of depth you have there you should be able to move someone for a bopper.

Who's on your radar off the waiver wire?

The two I am watching on the WW right now are Justin Upton and Milton Bradley. I'd really like to make some sort of package deal and bring in a 1st round quality power bat.

I'd prefer both Upton or Bradley over Lind. Lind has no plate discipline at all, his career OBP is .318. Ouch.

Well to bring in a top quality who are you willing to part with? That's the eternal question...

Bradley's a pain in the neck with all of his injury problems. Upton I'm not sold on this season, I feel like he's still a year away from a breakout, although I think he could be an upgrade over Lind (Upton should walk a lot more than Lind).

Ideally, I'd like to move Maggs and a SP. I think Magg's days of hitting for power are over. I want someone like Prince Fielder or Ryan Howard, someone that can really help with my homerun production.

If you're willing to sacrafice avg, which I assume you are if you're interested in trading for Howard, I'd go after Adam Dunn. The price tag will be far lower on Dunn than Howard and he'll put up comparable power numbers.

I agree with some of the previous posters, I would have Dunn starting over Lind. Your pitching is fantastic and Rollins will come around soon enough. Ianetta hit a homer last night which is an encouraging sign that he might be coming out of his prolonged slump. B.J. Upton felt some tightness in his quad and that might limit his steals for a few days, but I don't think its anything to get concerned about.
