So my pitching has been spotty at best and I'm looking to put together a staff of SPers who I can rely on every week. Here's my question: Kyle Lohse, Chris Volstad or Johnny Cueto? Lohse and Volstad are both off to good starts, with Lohse having more experience and Volstad having more upside. I'm of the opinion that Cueto has the most upside of the three but he's still very raw and will see some bumps along the road. Here is my entire staff (we start 5 SP):
Hamels Lester J. Johnson Wainwright Danks Cueto DL E. Santana
If Santana proves healthy and rounds back in to form primary staff of Hamels/Santana/Lester/Johnson/either Wainwright or Danks would be pretty damn good, but I'd like to have the best possible option at the back. So who would it be?
Definitely Volstad. He has the pedigree and FLA knows their pitching. I think he has one of the best ERAs in the NL since last summer. He might even have more upside than cueto for this season because Cueto is a flyball pitcher in that park and he has been struggling with his control. Go Volstad and monitor Cueto. Hope this helps
Sorry...it's a 10 team, h-2-h, 5x5 league with 7 keepers. So even if Cueto were to break out there's a very good chance I wouldn't have space for him (my team includes Howard, Sizemore, Miggy, Pedroia, Hamilton, young guys like Wieters and J. Upton, and the aforementioned SPers)
So Volstad or Cueto? I'm very leery of Lohse, even after posting i'm not sure I'd be able to pull the trigger on him.
Volstad is the choice for me. With Cueto playing half of his games in such a good hitters park plus his potential to blow up every once in a while tips it to Volstad for me.
FLA is looking great this year and I think there is big W potential for him.
