Derek Holland ----> MLB

Rangers #2 pitching prospect, top 15 to 50 in most mlb lists. Polished (for his age) lefty with a 92-97 fastball, here is his baseballcube page.

Noone thought he'd be up for a couple months, but the Rangers are flat out desperate. However, he replaced Josh Rupe.. not a SP... so we don't know what his role is right now.
This should be interesting.

What are the chances he goes into the rotation right away?

What impact could make this season...something more than say Chris Tillman could potentially?

He'll get a chance to show off first, so Holland needs to be rostered and if it's Tillman being dropped you have to do it.

Apparently hes in the bullpen for now per a post by the rangers page.

However with Benson being in that rotation, Padilla possibly hurt (was throwing below 90 last time out.. thats not him) and the general horrible staff you have to expect him to make the rotation soon.

He'll start as a long man, but I expect him to take Benson's spot by the All-Star break.

Boy I hope this isn't too early for him. I would have liked to see him throw another 100 innings in the minors.

Of course the day after I drop him for Escobar. Hopefully no one picks him up and I can grab him back Sunday night after the waiver is cleared.

How high is this guys ceiling? I think Tillman is going to be very good.

If he reaches his ceiling I see him as a #2.

behind Feliz? I can't wait till that guy gets called up.

It kind of seems like they're rushing this guy, but the Tigers rushed Perry and he's doing well for them.

Any lefty with solid command and a 95mph fastball has an ace ceiling. With that said #2 is probably more reasonable, especially pitching in Arlington.
