It will be interesting if Hughes is lights out replacing Wang. That would cause a lot of nice problems. Ideally Hughes can pitch to a 4.50 ERA and then get sent down once Wang has things figured out.
What is the consensus on Hughes these days? Are most people still projecting him to be an ace or is that over? All I know is PECOTA isn't thrilled with his potential anymore.

For me he has the same potential that he had last year, just a lot less hype. He was pitching with a broken rib when he wasn't doing well when he was up last year. The only knock against him as far as I'm concerned is injury concern. At least his injures haven't involved his arm (cracked rib, hamstring, ankle).

Yes, that would be ideal for all us non-Yankee fans.
I just grabbed Hughes in my $ league bc the only shot at grabbing him before the news breaks bc my leagues a lot of yankee fans. I jumped on baseball cube and compared his minor league #s to a lot of pitchers his age and i never realized how well he stacked up against them. I think hes a huge posthype sleeper if he can sneak into this rotation. his numbers are flat out nasty but i think he was so overly hyped as the savior of the yanks rotation last season and it caused him to fold. now that hed be the clear 5th starter and have little to no pressure on him, he could flourish.

On the radio yesterday, they were speculating that they would just skip Wang's next turn in the rotation, given the extra day off. I haven't looked at the schedule though, so I'm not sure this is accurate.

Accurate. Wang's next start would be Apr 24, but with Apr 23 off, he can be skipped, so his next scheduled start is Apr 28 at Detroit.

Wang can't be sent down, if Baseball Tonight is correct. They just said he's out of options, which means he has to work out whatever is wrong with him up in the majors.

Or they put him on the DL, which I think is likely.
