Pitchers for Holliday ----WHIR

Postby Darth Danielus » Sat Apr 18, 2009 1:39 pm

Hey guys....10 team keeper 6x6 roto

Guy in my league let me know he was interested in some starting pitching and or closer help. He dangled holliday as a possibility. I'm not huge on holliday, but my hitting has been bad and I could use some help there. I was thinking someone like Cain and an mid-level closer as my opening offer...

MY TEAM
C Geovany Soto
1B Adrián González
2B Chase Utley
3B Hank Blalock
SS J.J. Hardy
LF Ryan Ludwick
CF Shane Victorino
RF Jay Bruce
Util Vladimir Guerrero
BN Mike Aviles
DL Alex Gordon
DL Álex Rodríguez

SP Johan Santana
SP CC Sabathia
SP Erik Bedard
RP Mariano Rivera
RP José Valverde
P Frank Francisco
P Mike González
P Manuel Corpas
BN James Shields
BN Huston Street
BN Matt Cain
BN Scott Baker
DL Joel Zumaya

(guerrero, soto, bedard, and rivera are unkeepable, and thus less valuable.) If I could sneak cain and mike gonzalez by him for holliday, that'd be great for me right?

As long as you don't have to give up Sabathia or Johan, I like the idea. Cain and Gonzalez would be nice and I'd even be willing to give up Shields if he threw something else useful back. Of course, with the news of Vlad being down for a while, you pretty much have to do something like this.

I'm not sure Cain (as the main guy) will be enough to get something done. He probably drafted Holliday high so he's going to equate him more to your front line starters in terms of value.

Here is an idea. Why not offer, Guerrerro and Cain for Holliday? To be honest, I don't think your offense is bad at all. You just caught a bad break with the Vlad injury.

I would try this if you don't have to give up CC or Johan. Try something like Shields and a reliever? Don't know if it'll get it done, but it's worth a try.
