My main concern with my team right now is starting pitching. Naturally, I'm interested in Cain; I like him a lot (as a pitcher) and I think he's a good building block/potential keeper. However, his value is hard to gauge in our setup with the stat cat QS-L. If he loses a lot, it kills his value even more aside from the lack of wins, but if he only loses 7 or 8 for the season, his value is actually helped compared to other leagues. Additionally, I have Johnny Damon sitting on my bench, which is a pretty big waste, so I like the idea of clearing space and somehow turning OF value into pitching. Of course, losing Dunn is a big blow to my team's power, but Cust could make that up if he becomes start worthy and the difference in average might help that anyway.
The deal: Adam Dunn for Matt Cain, Conor Jackson, and Jack Cust
My team: C Bengie Molina 1B Adrian Gonzalez 2B Mark DeRosa SS Michael Young 3B Garret Atkins OF Carlos Beltran OF Corey Hart OF Adam Dunn (1B Eligible) UT Jayson Werth Bench: Mike Napoli, Billy Butler, Aaron Hill, Ryan Theriot, Johnny Damon, Colby Rasmus (still eligible for minors)
SP (Start 5) Johan Santana, Chris Young, Kevin Slowey, Wandy Rodriguez, Oliver Perez RP (Start 3) Joe Nathan, Joakim Soria, Heath Bell Bench: Mark Buehrle, Paul Maholm, Jamie Moyer
Minor Leagues: Matt LaPorta (1B-Cle), Neftali Feliz (SP-Tex), Derek Holland (SP-Tex), Josh Vitters (3B-ChiNL), Michael Bowden (SP-Bos)
6x6 weekly HtH 14 team roto keeper (between 5 and 10 keepers (no time limits or costs), losing a draft pick for each after 5) Offensive Categories: BA, OPS, RBI, HR, SB and Runs Scored. Pitching Categories: W, S, ERA, K/IP, Quality Starts minus Losses, and WHIP Minors: 5 "free" keepers. These players if are eligible to be kept without the loss of a draft pick and in addition to the max of 10. They must have under 200 Ab or less than 75 IP and 20 APP.
Waiver Wire: I'm considering picking up from the best on the WW by dropping Moyer (after this upcoming 2 start week) or Vitters ( in turn moving Rasmus to the minors ): Hitters: Mike Jacobs (1B), Asdrubal Cabrera (2B), Dallas McPherson (3B), Russel Branyan (3B), Cody Ross (OF), Aaron Rowand (OF), Pitchers: Nick Blackburn, Dave Bush, Shairon Martis, Doug Davis, Jorge De La Rosa, Cha Seung Baek, David Aardsma
Thank you all in advance and as always, leave a link.
I don't think I would do this. I also like Cain but I think you could get more for Dunn than Cain/Connor/Cust. I am not a fan of Connor and he is off to a slow start this year. Cust has potential but no worth it to make the deal. I would continue to shop around with Dunn and see what other offers you could get.
Would you need to drop guys to make room for cust, jackson? That would certainly factor in. I'd think dunn could get you something slightly better then cain - and I'd be focused on getting the best possible pitcher in return for him. The proposed deal seems fair-ish...but I'd probably want a bit more.
Thanks for the help with mine.

I'm not usually a big fan of quantity over quality, but it's not a terrible trade. For context, can you post the 2 players you'd be dropping? Even though it's a 3 for 1 deal you should factor those players in, same as if you were trading them, when evaluating the offer.
Yea I am not a fan of either trade really. The second is better than the first but I am just not sure and was a big avoider of Cliff Lee on draft day. You don't need Papelbon at all and you need Beltran more than Youk
