Rollins, Lind for Reyes?

Postby henketime » Fri Apr 17, 2009 3:10 am

8 team H2H, 12 cats R HR RBI SB AVG OBP W SV K ERA WHIP OBPA

My Roster:

C - Mike Napoli
1B - Jason Morneau
2B - Dustin Pedroia
3B - David Wright
SS - Jimmy Rollins
OF - Adam Lind
OF - Carlos Lee
OF - Nate McLouth
Util - David Ortiz
BN - Aubrey Huff
BN - Andre Ethier
BN - Joey Votto
BN - Ryan Ludwick

(although lately I've been playing Ethier/Ludwick and benching McLouth/Lee and using Votto as my Util)

Rotation
SP - Cole Hamels
SP - Jake Peavy
RP - Joakim Soria
RP - Jonathan Broxton
P - Chris Young
P - Brian Wilson
P - Chad Billingsley
BN - Kyle Lohse

Basically the offer is Rollins and Lind for Reyes. I can see that I would be winning in this deal, but for some reason I'm having some hesitation pulling the trigger. Whether it's because of Lind's amazing start or the fact that none of my other outfielders have really come out of the gates flying (other than Ludwick) but I keep doubting this deal for some reason. PLEASE give me some reassurance!

On a related note, I know that this person is incredibly high on Ryan Ludwick. Would it be an even BETTER deal if I were to offer Ludwick in place of Lind?

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. The differences between Reyes and Rollins aren't that significant for me, as I'm not a huge reyes fan. Lind is locked in right now, and was a hyped up prospect who is entering his prime. Would not do. ;-D

Do you think that Jimmy Rollins will pick it up as the season rolls along? Normally I wouldn't make this type of deal this early, but many people seem down on Rollins this year... better get some value while it lasts, right?

And remember, I can see your avatar. :-D

Personally, yes I believe Rollins will get it going. (no homer)

Last year was actually not a very good year for him. I look for him to bounce back a bit this year. Not to those 2007 numbers, but definitely better than last years. And yes, it is too early to be worrying about a guy like Rollins 1 1/2 weeks in. The Phillies always start out crappy every April, record - wise and statistically.

Thanks for the advice!

But if Rollins doesn't pick it up, Lind comes back to earth and Reyes has a monster year, I'm putting the entire blame on you. The Phillies fan who believed in Rollins and disliked Jose Reyes. (No correlation right? Just kidding) :-D

Well, I'm not saying that Lind will continue this blistering pace of what seems like 2-4 everyday. But, I think he will be valuable and put up some nice numbers when it's all said and done.

I stand by my words. Hold me to it, brother. B-)

If you can land a top 3 pick in Reyes for Rollins and a scrub then grab that deal and run
