Is Max Scherzer worth losing my #1 waiver priority?

Postby djlenny22 » Fri Apr 17, 2009 12:38 am

I currently have Oswalt, Burnett, David Price (whenever he's called up), Buehrle, Slowey as my main five pitchers and I stream every now and then with matchups. I'm a little weak at strikeouts but not horrible. I drafted Offense heavy so I'm set there. Just wondering if Scherzer is worth losing my #1 priority when other stud players will get called up and I'll be first to snatch them up (Tommy Hanson and Matt Wieters). What do you think?

Thanks for any advice

Head-to-head league. Categories for pitchers are Wins, Saves, Strikeouts, ERA, WHIP

i dont think he's that "impact" guy that u can snag with the #1. plus sometimes ppl are really dumb and drop pretty good players since they are impatient. max is maybe a 3/4th type guy in fantasy rotations? plus wieters is out there, he'd be a "impact" guy to get when available

In a league where guys likw wieters aren't in the player pool yet this is actually in interesting question. I'd say do it for sure in another situation, but here, I think you wait it out, unless you have a stud catcher or don't have a good history of pulling off big trades. I like Scherzer, but think Wieters is a pretty big prize who isn't too far off, as is worth waiting for. anyway, who knows what the guy that gets Scherzer might drop?
