It's my first year in a money league and I took Ortiz in the third round thinking it was a bargain. Ouch, it hurts! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Adam Lind is available. Here's my squad. I'm in last place and I need to do something before I'm totally out of it. The scoring is very basic, but it's pretty fun. Hits=1 pt, Runs=3, RBIs=5, HR=1+3+5=9 Pitchers aren't worth as much: W=15, Save=10
Best FAs: Lind, Adam Jones...Man it's thin, might need to work out a trade deal.
Here's my team: SP- Santana SP-A.J. Burnett (SP NYY) SP- Dan Haren (SP ARI) RP- Brian Wilson RP- Soria C-R Martin 1B- P Fielder 2B- Uggla 3B- Chipper Jones SS- K. Greene OF- BJ Upton OF- Braun OF- Damon DH- Ortiz
Bench: Casey Kotchman (1B ATL) Brad Penny (SP BOS) David Ortiz (DH BOS) George Sherrill (RP BAL) Huston Street (RP COL) J.D. Drew (OF BOS) Matt Cain (SP SF) Michael Cuddyer (OF MIN) Miguel Tejada (SS HOU) Mike Cameron (OF MIL) Mike Napoli (C ANA) Aaron Hill (2B TOR)
im going to give the same advice youll read everywhere...its been a week and a half/2 weeks, if you thought ortiz was going to be a solid player this season a few weeks or a month ago, why the sudden change? be patient also, you KNOW once you drop ortiz, he is going to end up on the person with the highest waiver priority, or at the very least someone elses team...if you dont want him to be on your team, wait for a good game or two then trade him, but you cant cut someone of his stature out right
Never Ever Drop Big Papi unless the team doctor personally tells you he'll be out for the season, and even then, try to trade him to someone that believes he has super powers first.
Pick up both of them and drop Kotchman and another but don't give up on Papi just yet and you shouldent be in last for long your pitching is WAY to solid for that.
