Nelson Cruz vs Pat Burrel vs Carl Crawford

Postby sdyarnell » Thu Apr 16, 2009 8:04 pm

I have Carl Crawford on my team. Burrel just got dropped and Cruz is on a tear, continuing from AAA and the end of last season. I believe Burrel is a better choice than Crawford, so i am probably switching, but i like the Cruz kid and the possibilities he may have. Opinions? 8 man, H2H, points.

points for batters equate to this: R=runs, TB=total bases, RBI = runs batten in, SB = stolen bases, CS= caught stealing

POINTS= R + TB + RBIs + (SB*2) - CS

C Russell Martin (C,3B,Util , LAD)
1B Miguel Cabrera (1B,3B,Util , DET)
2B Dan Uggla (2B,Util , FLA)
3B Evan Longoria (3B,Util , TB)
SS Jose Reyes (SS,Util , NYM)
OF Bobby Abreu (OF,Util , LAA)
OF Nate McLouth (OF,Util , PIT)
OF Alex Rios (OF,Util , TOR)
U Nick Swisher (1B,OF,Util , NYY)

Pitcher
P New York Mets (P , NYM)

Bench
BN Brad Hawpe (OF,Util , COL)
BN Ryan Zimmerman (3B,Util , WSH)
BN Carl Crawford (OF,Util , TB)
BN Placido Polanco (2B,Util , DET)
BN Carlos Delgado (1B,Util , NYM)
Pitcher
BN San Francisco Giants (P , SF)

i rank them:
1.Crawford--power and speed combo--tough to find
2.Cruz--tons of upside...probally will rank above crawford next year if not at this years end
3.Burrell--move out of phi hurts his power which is his value

Total Bases and Steals count for double and homers don't count? Carl Crawford must be a top 5 scorer there and I can't even imagine how high Reyes is.

A HR counts as six points: 1R, 1 RBI, and 4 total bases. You dont get anything special just because its a HR, but they are definitely the best way to score points. If ricky henderson still played, hed go first round overall in this point system since SB are worth 2 points, lol

But i see what you are saying about Burrel. So everyone says to keep crawford? Or does majority like Cruz? Any other opinions?

Thanks for your help. I agree with this dead on. Although I rank Burrell a little closer to Cruz. Maybe equal at this point. The point is, you stick with Crawford.
