B. Roberts for Kershaw?

Postby wags87 » Thu Apr 16, 2009 7:56 pm

My team is solid offensively but relatively weak pitching wise.
C Brian McCann
1B Ryan Howard
2B Brian Roberst
3B Aramis Ramirez
SS Michael Young
OF Carlos Quention
OF Corey Hart
OF Shane Victorino
UTIL Adrian Gonzalez (1B)
UTIL Brad Hawpe (OF)
UTIL Mike Cameron
Bench: Delmon Young, Mike jacobs, Rickie Weeks

P Ubaldo Jimenez (SP)
P Kyle Lohse (SP)
P Paul Maholm
SP Jake Peavy
SP Scott Baker (DL)
RP Joe Nathan
RP Frank Francisco
Bench: Scott Lewis (CLE), Huston Street (OAK), Kawakami (ATL)

I want to go after Kershaw- the guy who has him wants B Roberts. Is that a fairly even trade, and/or is there anyone I can add in on my side if he balks at a one-for-one?

Note: Aaron Hill is available on waivers, so if I move quickly I can grab him and improve my pitching.

Thanks for your help.

No way. Kershaw is not nearly as established as Roberts. Give us a bit more info, how many teams in your league, what his roster looks like...

its a risk, but i think its worth it.
Kershaw is only in his 1st full season, but he has a ton of potential.
Kershaw last year in his rookie season went 5-5, 4.26 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 100 K in 107.2 IP ..which is not very good, but not bad.
there was another pitcher who recently came up and during that rookie season went 7-5, 4.00 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 150 K in 146.1 IP ..and then in the next season (1st full season/2008) he had these stats- 18-5, 2.62 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 265 K in 227 IP ..and his name? Tim Lincecum. im just sayin.
sometimes its worth the risk.

help?

Kershaw/Jeter for Roberts/Young? I really like your offense so i would be hesitant to do this deal but you definitely could use another starter.

you get hosed if you got BRob straight up for Kershaw, hell im in a 12 teamer and picked up Kershaw off waivers in a couple... id try for Haren with Roberts, shouldn't be much selling i mean Roberts is a top 5 2B at a weak position, stress to him how much he would benefit from getting Roberts... but i wouldn't go Kershaw, would only do it straight up for Haren...

help me out...
