Which pitcher to grab off waivers?

Postby oldmanbean » Thu Apr 16, 2009 7:41 pm

In alphabetical order, Duke, Millwood or Washburn. The first two each have one more start this week to analyze, Washburn is done but is a 2-start next week. I would 99% drop Motte. I have 4 waiver picks left

Thanks for your input

C R Martin 9, K Suzuki 4
1B T Ishikawa 6, P Konerko 8
2B Bonifacio 7, D Uggla 17
3B A Gordon 4, P Sandoval 6
SS S Drew 10, J Lowrie 3
OF J Bruce 9, J Cust 4, J Hamilton 13, N Markakis 8, N McLouth 13
P B Anderson 3, J Danks 8, G Floyd 15, C Lee 13, J Motte 5
J Sanchez 3, M Scherzer 9, J Shields 15, K Uehara 5, J Zimmerman 6

Man, that is tough ... but I agree with your decision to drop Motte. For me, it's between Duke and Washburn. I think I'd go Washburn, because his defense has greatly improved around him and he's actually pitched really well in his 2 starts. I'd take a gamble on either one.

I wouldn't want to roster either Washburn or Duke. No other viable SP options at all?

I can't believe I am saying this and am hopeful my Phillie faithful brethren are not listening, but I actually like Millwood the best from that bunch. That said, maybe go with a strong middle-reliever instead?

Please see mine:

We get nothing for middle relievers in our league, just wins and saves, no holds.

Best part about middle relief --- solid era, decent whip and in many cases high k rate. Good place to set up camp while deciding on starters.
