Should I try acquire some pitching?? WHIR

Postby Guzman24 » Thu Apr 16, 2009 7:13 pm

12 teamer H2H 5x5 (OBP instead of avg) 8 keepers

My team has underperformed through the first 2 weeks of the season. My bats haven't been hitting and my aces haven't been my aces and Webb is now on the DL. If it wasn't for Josh Johnson my record would be even worse. Im pretty comfortable with my hitting, I think it will come around eventually and the numbers will be there when its all said and done. That being said I'm thinking that I should be looking to trade some hitting to shore up my staff as I'm not sure its strong enough. Anyone have any suggestions? Go for a deal? Sit tight? Any suggestions on who to trade and target? Thanks in advance.

i think your pitching staff is better off than you think. lincecum has had 2 bad outings, and jimenez has a high ERA. however, both will get lots of Ks. having josh johnson is big this year! i don't see that you have any hitters you can afford to trade, with your small bench numbers. i'd sit tight... your pitching will improve.

Ya but is my hitting not strong enough to sacrifice some of it for pitching? I dont really see a weakness in my offence other than Figgins at 3B and he's still serviceable.

This is an OBP league so Konerko and Cust wouldn't be bad for me to slot into my UT spot. They both will give me nice power numbers with a solid OBP I could then deal Votto for some pitching. Another option would be to move Votto to 1B and deal howard for another ace and an upgrade at 3B

thoughts on this??

i still think you should hold out. don't do anything now you'll regret once your pitchers start heating up.

Honestly, I don't think your staff is THAT bad ...... If you can acquire some good pitching at a premium, sure I'd do it.

However, who else is available as a free agent? I would try and play the Free Agent route if I were you. Perhaps drop Manny Parra for a better option.

What FA pitchers are available in your league?

Help me out?

agree with this. after your starters on offense i'm not sure how much pitching you'll be able to pick up with the backups, and i wouldn't want either of the backups having to be an everyday starter due to lack of depth. stick with what you have unless you can work some type of 2 for 1 with 2 players coming back to you, a replacement position and a SP.

Thanks for your help.

I agree with those who say stand pat. We are still early here. Dont do anyting rash. You have at least three very solid SP, and if you keep your eyes open, you'll probably find at least one more in the coming weeks. Be patient, young Jedi...
