Pujols trade

Postby blove523 » Thu Apr 16, 2009 4:46 pm

I just finished up a trade including Pujols. I'm a huge Cardinal fan and had to have Pujols on my team. This is a H2H league and we're able to keep 2 players each year. I think i'd have the best with Hanley and Pujols now.

I gave up:
Brian McCann
Lance Berkman
Josh Beckett

I got:
Albert Pujols
Chad Billingsley

What do you guys think? I now have the two best players in the league and plan on picking up John Baker from FLA to be my new catcher. I think he has the potential to be a top 10 catcher. I was also thinking of picking up Carpenter and stashing my DL. I also might drop one of my extra relievers and pick up Wieters to stash until he comes up. Any ideas? Please be honest.

Sounds like you gave up a reasonable side for Pujols. If I had Pujols, I'd probably say that's close but no cigar. I think you did well without breaking the bank.

I'd pick up Baker and drop one of your relievers for Wieters. Depends on your roster though.

post a roster to help with the rest of the adding/dropping, but i also agree i think you may have taken a hit, but you got Pujols thats a big trade that will pay off IMO, i really like Bills over Beckett anyways and Berkman is a stud 1st half but has the record of dipping in the 2nd half so i think you solidified your 1B MAJORLY and with that it balances out trading a top C option like McCann, btw nice on the Pujols/HanRam side by side i like!

help me out...

My roster now is:
C: John Baker
1B: Albert Pujols
2B: Brian Roberts
SS: Hanley Ramirez
3B: Mark DeRosa
OF: Nick Markakis
OF: Adam Dunn
OF: Matt Kemp
UTIL: Adrian Gonzalez
UTIL: Adam Lind
B: Aaron Hill

SP: Tim Lincecum
SP: Chad Billingsley
RP: Heath Bell
RP: Huston Street
P: Roy Oswalt
P: Adam Wainwright
P: Francisco Liriano
B: Matt Garza
B: Erik Bedard
B: Chris Volstad
B:Yovanni Gallardo

I think I still have a very solid rotation if the guys pan out and I really like my team now. I am very excited about having Pujols and Hanley on the same team and as my keepers for many years to come.

I'd probably drop Hill for Wieters and stash him there. The next move should be to move a SP for a 3B or RP, both spots you're lacking in. You have an extremely deep pitching staff and so, trading for a 3B or closer shouldn't hurt you in the least bit.

I actually have an offer on the table for me to give up Oswalt/Hill for Josh Johnson/Votto.

Also, any ideas on who I should target?

I have a trade of Dunn for Crawford on the table.

I also sent a trade out of me giving up Oswalt and Huston Street for Josh Johnson and Jonathan Broxton.

Any suggestions on which 3B to target?

Also, should I pick up Carpenter and stash him on my DL spot? And David Price is a FA, should I stash both him and Wieters? And Wieters is having a horrible go of it in AAA right now. Last I checked, he's batting .222 with no extra base hits.
