in 9 games he's been out of the starting lineup twice (both times against LHP). Granted, he pinch hit late in one of those games.

for ellsbury to be out of the lineup twice in 9 games is worrisome (at least for me)

this is from rototimes:
April 13, 2009
The Boston Globe reports that Jacoby Ellsbury did not start on Monday against the A's against left-hander Dallas Braden. Rocco Baldelli got the start in center field.

Our View:Ellsbury does have three steals through six games, but otherwise he has done very little through a week of play. We do not expect his absence against starting left-handers to be an ongoing trend this season.

he played the other day against OAK's Anderson and put up some terrible numbers

i was just wondering if anyone has heard anything definite

I know there's nothing that's been said definitely. The longer Ellsbury plays like crap obviously there's reason for worry, but up until now I know that Baldelli's role is to primarily platoon with Drew when Drew gets his numerous scheduled days off.

Baldelli does have some speed, so I suppose it's something to look out for. Ellsbury has been awful, though. Struggling mightily at the plate and some boneheaded decisions in the field and on the basepaths. Theoretically playing a full year in the majors last year would have removed the "rookie" tag, but he sure looks like one right now.

This guy is killing me team. I don't care if he doesn't get hits, he just needs to get on base and get me a steal and a run.
