Drop Kaz Matsui for A. Cabrera? WHIR

Postby FantasySportsMaven » Thu Apr 16, 2009 1:37 pm

I was a homer when I drafted Matsui and now other than sucking up the 2B position, he is now hurt again too. My team starts a 2B and a MI each day and all I have are Hill and Matsui but an thinking about dropping Matsui for Asdrubal Cabrera who has been hot in the last week. He is the best available MI in this 12 team league.
I am even thinking about dropping Matsui for another OF like Fowler or Duncan or even Catcher Buck? I can also probably drop a RP or two but which one(s)?

Here's my teams info: 12 team H2H Yahoo Redraft league with 5x5 scoring. Start C,1B,2B,3B,SS,IF,MI,CI,RF,CF.LF,OF,UT, SP,SP,RP,RP,P,P,P
Current Roster with probably starting positions:
C:Martin
1B: Pujols
2B: Hill
3B: Reynolds
SS: Perralta
CI: Fielder
MI: K. Matsui
IF: Dunn
LF: Lind
CF: Kemp
RF: Pence
OF: Ny Morgan
UT: Adam Jones
BN: ConnorJackson, Wieters
SP: Oswalt, Billingsley, Sanchez
RP: Valverde, Morrow, Percival
P: Weaver, Zimmerman, Motte, Street(Corpas is a FA)

What would you do if anything?

I'd make the swap. Asdrubel is nothing special, but he's getting on base and the plate discipline, albeit in a small sample size, is encouraging. You should check to see if any of these guys are available as well: Fontenot, Casilla, Aybar. Each are available on different WW, and I'd rank them in that order, sliding in Cabrera right after Casilla.

Thanks for the help.

Out of the three you mentioned, only Aybar is available. Casilla is taken but Castillo(NYM) is available. I favor Cabrera over Castillo due to Cabrera hitting 9th before the beginning of the order while Castillo is hitting 8th before the pitcher.

What if I dropped Matsui and just left that position empty while Picking up Fowler or Duncan? Or should I drop Matsui for Cabrera and then drop a RP for Fowler or Duncan?

Don't know much about Asdrubal Cabrera, so i can't really comment. I'd probably go after Fowler or Duncan (chris duncan, right?) If you think you need the steals, go after Fowler ... he's doing pretty well.

Yes, Chris Duncan.
Should I then just leave the MI spot empty until I can find someone else to fill it or trade for someone?

I would look to pickup either Fowler he will get you steals plus a decent batting avg. Also he plays 1/2 his games at Coors.

Please Help me!

I would swap out Corpas for Street. Just don't see him getting it done in Colorado (or anywhere really). I think Street either losed his job outright, or gets moved at the deadline. Either way Corpas is the guy come crunch time.

Not sure about the 2B situation. I guess Cabrera is better. Tough call.

Drop Street for Corpas. Drop Motte for Fowler. And IS Kaz hurt? If he's injured, I guess grab Asdrubal. I don't think anyone's gonna snap either of those dudes up off the WW.
