Fielder for Lincecum (+ others) WHIR!!!

Postby malmstorm » Thu Apr 16, 2009 8:47 am

Starting off the season with a struggling staff: DiceK, Nolasco, Lester, Lackey, Carpenter. Would you do this trade? Matt Capps, Randy Johnson, Tim Lincecum and Justin Morneau for Prince Fielder, Nick Markakis and Mariano Rivera. I'd sure like to add an "ace" to my staff, but Lincecum hasn't inspired a lot of confidence thus far.

This is a 5 man roto keeper league...

C- B Molina
1B- Teixeira
2B- Phillips
SS- Reyes
3B- Aramis Ramirez
OF- Abreau, Markakis, Dye, Francoeur, Lind
UT- Votto, Fielder

P- Bell, Broxton, Kawakami, Lester, Lowe, Nolasco, Pettite, Rivera, Carpenter, DiceK

Bench- Weiters, Ankiel, Beltre

DL- Lackey

Catagories are: Quality Starts, K/9, WHIP, ERA, Saves, Wins.

Thanks!!!

hmm --

Capps < Mo (but not a bad closer)
Johnson
Lincecum
Morneau </= Fielder (not too bad for you, especially since prince is at utility)

It's the Markakis piece thats hard to measure... your outfield is lesser for losing him.

the question is: do you trust Lincecum to rebound from these bad starts? your staff isn't bad, its just off to a slow start. i expect all those players to have good, but injury-prone, years. i think i'd make the trade, then try to flip a pitcher like lester or carpenter for another outfielder (i think they're you're two biggest health risks)

I think this deal depends on if you trust that Lincecum will bounce back and how much you value Markakis. In my opinion the closers do not matter. If I was you, I probably would not make the trade because I have a mancrush on markakis haha.
