I'm still hoping to play in a 5x5 with QS instead of Wins at some point.

Take this to Cheering/Venting.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

Then you'll be pissed when your pitcher throws 7 innings giving up 3 runs and gets the win. But he leaves with a man on base and the reliever lets the run in. No longer a QS.

Or the pitcher that goes 5 2/3 but is relieved because his pitch count is at 100. Gets the win but no QS.

Trust me, these happen plenty. !+)

Ya, the other I hate wins thread was just getting stale. Thanks for starting a new one. :-°

The concern that I would have with setting this up is that you are adding another quantity stat (encouraging more streaming). And there seems to a pretty good balance between ratios and quantity stats in the standard 5x5.

I play in a league that has both and they counter it with BAA. the more percentage categories you have; the harder it is to stream.

There are flaws in QS as well and his name is Rich Harden. There have been many times when I have seen Harden throw a gem, but because he strikes out 95% of the batters he is taken out at the end of 5 innings. This same thing happened to Greinke this week when he pitched well, struck out quite a few batters and then ended up sitting down after 5. He got a win, but not a QS. That is a joke. Of course you have a guy like Volquez who gave up 6 runs but got a win since Gallardo gave up 7.

You can't escape it, but over the course of the year it usually works itself out.

In a QS league, Matt Cain is better than Tim Lincecum. ;-D

HA. I have Cain in my QS league, and was praying for him to go 6 last night. Didn't think it was going to happen, but it did (barely). ;-D

In the league I commish I use both. It's a 7x7 that also includes K/9 in the pitching cats. I included to have a little more variety in categories and to force managers to look a bit deeper into a pitcher's overall performance besides just racking up K's. No stat is perfect of course, but I think it allows managers to give a second look at pitchers who are undervalued because they don't K as much and/or because they don't play on a powerhouse team where they stumble on 10-15 W's.
