Chris Duncan - OF STL

Postby Doc19 » Wed Apr 15, 2009 8:12 pm

Duncan had another big day today, the boy is raking to start the season. I know LaRussa will not keep sitting Ludwick this much, and they have an extra OF with Rasmus up, but Duncan looks healthy this year for sure... anyone else buying? 30 HRS possible this year?

I bought in. Got tired of waiting the last two weeks for Cameron Maybin to just show a little life on my bench and I started Duncan today. Nice day 3 for 4 with 2 runs and 2 rbi. He does look healthy and he is actually hitting left handed pitching right now, as well. Hopefully, with that the case maybe he sits less. But definently does has 30 hr power. And you have to love where he hits in the lineup!

I am not buying mostly because I don't believe he'll see enough time vs lefties and because I think he wears down as the year goes on since he has never played a full season.

It is time to live in the present. Duncan is healthy for the first time in a long time. But more importantly, he is starting against a lefty AGAIN today, and just jacked a 2 run homer.

The only worry I have about Duncan is his health. He always seems to get banged up somehow. If he manages to stay healthy he'll be a steal this year.

Duncan over Delmon Young, Hideki Matsui or Travis Hafner for this year?

exactly. when he is healthy he hits the ball hard. he looks healthy now after some kind of experimental neck surgery in the offseason, but there is the ever present risk that he chokes on his tobacco whilst attempting to play the field.

i wouldnt worry about playing time. TLR thinks of chris as a son. i am not saying he gets preferential treatment, but he won't get cheated out of his fair share of at bats.

i'm really contemplating picking him up. he has shown plenty of power upside in his career. i'd have to drop one of ryan spilborghs or elijah dukes however. idk if i'm ready to do that

I'm biting...just dropped Delmon Young for him. Risky move, DYoung's been hyped for years now.

In my H2H with weekly lineups I won him with my FAAB claim and replaced Mike Jacobs (who I think jacked 2 balls so far this week on the bench).

Very happy with Duncan for the short term at least.
