Wright/MCab for Longoria/Hanley?

Postby slagbot » Wed Apr 15, 2009 2:54 pm

12 team roto keeper league (kept 2 this year, will keep 3 next year and so on). just got offered Wright and MCab for Longoria and Hanley. I'm leaning towards no -- i like the youth i have and i'm admittedly a bit of a homer for florida teams. i just wanted to see your guys' thoughts on this before i do a final rejection. here's my roster; i won the league last year and i'm in 1st currently.

my roster:

C - Brandon Inge
1B - Aubrey Huff
2B - Ian Kinsler
SS - Hanley Ramirez (keeper)
3B - Evan Longoria (keeper)
OF - Matt Holliday
OF - Denard Span
OF - Torii Hunter
Util - Willy Taveras
BN - Mike Fontenot
DL - Joe Mauer

SP - Roy Halladay
SP - Chris Volstad
SP - Edinson Volquez
SP - Josh Johnson
SP - Ted Lilly
RP - Brian Fuentes
RP - Chad Qualls
RP - Matt Thornton
RP - Scot Shields
RP - Troy Percival
RP - Ramon Ramirez
DL - Ervin Santana

stats: R,H,2B,3B,HR,RBI,SB,BB,A,FPCT,AVG,SLG,OBP,OPS; W,CG,SHO,SV,HLD,K,ERA,WHIP,K/9,NH,PG,QS

idk. It's actually pretty close. I think it comes down to who you think will be better the next ten years: Longoria or Cabrera. Obviously, Hanley is awesome and should be preferred over Wright. So, is the difference between Longoria and Cabrera enough to justify having Wright over Hanley? Considering Longoria's youth and position eligibility (MCab won't be eligible for 3B for long), I think I'd take Longoria. But it's closer than you think.

This makes no sense. Considering all 4 players in the deal are going to be playing at an elite level for another 6-10 years
I wouldn't be surprised to see Miguel Cabrera be the most valuable of the 4 players once he finds his stride. If he can combine his BA in the past with his most recent power surge then he is going to be Pujols esc.

It's a close deal but I would be inclined to stick with the two first rounders in Wright and Cabrera.
