Drop Aviles and Randy Johnson?

I wasn't and am still not high on either Mike Aviles or Randy Johnson. There are a couple of interesting free agent players that are available, so should I drop one or both of them?

i would hold on to aviles...i like his dual position eligibilty (especially in H2H leagues)

drop johnson to stash Escobar...he suffered a small setback but nothing to push him back more than a couple of days (high reward)

I'd certainly stash Escobar on the DL if you have the opening.

I am a big believer in taking the best players and worry less about position eligibility.

I'd drop Aviles for Konerko in a heartbeat- then you have flexibility to make a deal down the line- trade away one of our big 1B bats for a stud SP for example. I'm just not sold on Aviles being more than a 15/15 type of player and in h2h that doesn't really help you much. Konerko should get his 30-35 HR's which is much more valuable IMO.

Do you think I should keep Johnson then?

I would keep Johnson, I don't know why everyone is so anti-Big-U just because of two bad starts. I mean look at Lincecum, he got roughed up too, same with Peavy, and a few other aces...

Randy Johnson and the word "ace" should not be put together in a sentence.

Not that I wouldn't strongly consider dropping Johnson in this situation, but just wanted to argue that in my eyes the biggest worry with him is age/injury more than anything else. You don't draft a guy his age as your ace in the first place, so all you want out of him is to eat innings and get strikeouts, even if he does it with a 4.50 ERA. I think he'll do that for a few months before the wear and tear catches up to him, and I think that's the time you drop RJ, unless you have a better option earlier, which may be the case here.

How is no one mentioning Volstad? A former top prospect that put up great numbers last year and is putting up great numbers this year. Drop Johnson, and get Volstad asap.

Another team picked up Volstad about 10 minutes after I made this post yesterday :-C
