Matt Cain vs LAD (4/15)

I'm leaning about 80% start here, I've got a few decent starters on my team (kazmir, cain, slowey, bedard, cueto, sherzer) and 2 days into the H2H match-up I'm trailing in ERA by about 6 innings & 6 runs (if my opponent had one bad performance we'd be tied) and we're even with strikeouts/wins/whip, I have 2 less losses so far.

A bad start here for Cain against the Dodgers offense could put my way back in ERA, drop down my WHIP and close the gap in losses. However, he has some good starters that will probably edge me in strikeouts & wins - unless I start my guys... what to do?

Cain had a great start to the season, dare I fool with him this early - 7inn/1er/5k vs Brewers offense last week. I think I played the right move by benching Scherzer last night, he only grabbed 1 k in 5inn with 3er - would've been no help.

Start or Bench?

Start Cain. He has a lot of pressure because he's their ace right now. I think that he'll do very good in this game. Make him prove you wrong. He hasn't yet, and his stats have been great. I have him and I'm starting him. I like the idea that you are thinking strategy, but I think that you are worried about the wrong guy. Cueto and Scherz are the guys that you should be playing matchups right now.

Thanks. I was more worried about the opponents offense, but I shouldn't be - I started Kazmir against Boston & the Yanks and he proved his worth... now it's Cain's turn.

You should be fine starting him. I have Kershaw and am starting him. And in the last few days I've started Slowey, Unit & Dice-K so that all bodes well for you!
