Draft Ideas....

Postby Josh » Wed Mar 05, 2003 8:17 pm

I have the 8th pick in my yahoo draft and am really not sure who to take. I am thinking the top 7 are going to be unit, arod, shilling, vlad, pedro, soriano, and bonds. I am not sure where to go next. I could go to With the next tier of guys, who do you think is going to have the biggest season? I am leary of 1b, just cause I think I could get a decent 1b later on, maybe Konerko or such. but what do you guys think? Thanks

Don't look for Konerko, look for Sweeney instead in the 3-5 range.

As for your 8th pick, I've got a similar pick at 7th overall. You might know the owners in your league better than I, but I think it's Vlad, Soriano, ARod, Bonds, RJ gone with the first five. Then there's Giambi, Schilling, Pedro, Pujols, and Sosa as the guys to pick from.

You can get a pitcher and then a Mags/Beltran caliber hitter next pick.
Or you can get a hitter and a Zito/Oswalt caliber pitcher next pick.

Of the hitters I'd take Pujols then Giambi then Sosa.

8th pick

Postby Josh » Wed Mar 05, 2003 8:46 pm

I know the people in my league, and I am leaning towards the 3 big pitchers being gone. If by chance one falls to me, I am going to grab him, but I was thinking about taking a hitter and picking up zito or oswalt with my 2nd pick. Just did not know which hitter to choose.

:-o What about Giambi? He plays in a ballpark built for him. Around a team that is two years removed from a trophy that they believe belongs to them. And in Division that is ranked last. An awful division with only two teams. The fact the AL Central suck's also only feeds the fact that the AL is inferior to the NL this year. That means the best team 160 mil. can buy should just have overly inflated stats. Giambi has a year of "New York" under him and it will be just about time for him to play his game. MVP Year :-o

i'd take

For your 2nd pick

If you take 2 SP with your forst 2 picks, draft bats for a few rounds. Grab young arms with K potential in later rounds. I usually tank the steals cat for roto and grab as many guys with .300+ avg's with power as I can.
