Evan Longoria to miss next two games

Postby LostInTheBoom » Wed Apr 15, 2009 8:45 am

Just saw this on Sportscenter and thought I'd give you all a heads-up:

According to ESPN.com:

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria is off to a hot start. But it appears the Rays will have to do without his bat for the next two games.

Longoria, the 2008 AL Rookie of the Year, was scheduled to travel to California on Wednesday for what a team official described as a family matter, the St. Petersburg Times reported. He's expected to miss two games and return for Friday's game against the Chicago White Sox.

Longoria leads the majors with five home runs and a .441 batting average. He has hits in each of his first eight games.

Willy Aybar is likely to start at third in place of Longoria, according to the report.
