Alright guys had kind of a train wreck on the last deal I made so I thought I'd run this by everyone and see what you thought. This was proposed to me: I give Garrett Atkins for Mariano Rivera. If i did this i would have to pickup a 3b off of waivers. Heres the roster: c. Soto 1b. Howard 2b. phillips ss. jeter 3b. atkins of. abreu, markakis, either, bruce b. weeks, crisp, pudge sp. sabathia, billingsley, lowe, dice-k, maine, sanchez, gallarraga, rp. dotel, thorton, zumaya
if i do this the best ww 3bs are fields, blake, marc reynolds what do you guys think, oh yeah 14team 5x5 h2h. thanks
I'm not an expert, but I'd think it be tough to win saves week to week with just 1 closer, so I don't really see the point in doing the trade. I would stay put and just keep a close watch on the closer thread here and try to pick up guys that can get you saves without having to lose any solid players.
I agree w/ the above post that 1 closer isn't going to get a lot of saves.
However, you should also consider the fact that there are a few rumors out that Atkins will possibly be traded, which could really hurt his value. If you had another closer, I would think this is a good deal for you, however, I don't think this will help you win any more categories. Tough call.
I agree. On value alone you win the trade, but what good will one closer do? Unless you can swing a deal for at least 2 closers it probably makes more sense to tank saves.
You could stress to him that if he trades Rivera then there's no point in keeping Valverde too, since 1 closer is pointless. If you can convince him to punt saves, then you have a shot.
Try offering G. Atkins + Maine/Gallarraga for both Rivera and Valverde. I don't think he'll do it, but at the very least, it will let him know that you're willing to trade Atkins, but you want both closers.
