Is there anything that leads you to believe he'd accept? Like questionable moves beforehand?

This is pretty offensive, IMO. While it upgrades his 2B slot a ton, AND he has a decent SS on the bench, no one would give Reyes up for Roberts, straight up. I would think the only way he bites is if you threw one of your better SPs in the deal, which to some degree, you can afford.

To be honest - my reason for offering the trade was a counter to his offensive offer to me...which was Peralta for Roberts. In the end I decided not to counter his offer - instead flat out rejecting it with a note that said "seriously?"

Yeah it's offensive but as a counter to that trade it's reasonable. I had that happen last week when a guy offered me volquez for howard, beltan and lowe. Some people.
help me out?

Offer it. It will send a more subtle msg then sending him a scathing e-mail about how ridiculous his other offer was. Is it "ridiculous?" Yes, but then again that's the point isn't it?
Can you return the favor -

Agreed.
No need to burn bridges this early in the season. You may be able to deal with this guy later in the season, ya never know.
