WHIR!!!!!!

Okay here is the deal....I have been going back and forth with the other manager since Saturday trying to get a trade done. This is the latest counter offer he sent me:

MY:
Berkman, Ortiz, Atkins, E. Santana
For His:
Howard, Holiday, Valverde

I have Beltre to plug-in at 3rd. I am hurting at closer position with Soria & B.J. Ryan. Valverde would upgrade me there. Berkman has been struggling the first week of this year and last Septmber too. I am worried that Berkman's elbow is hurting him and will be a problem for the rest of the year. Ortiz is nice but I can only use him at Utility spot and he is getting older. If I made this trade I would than pickup from the Free Agent List: Tori Hunter, Jay Bruce, Connor Jackson or Denard Span with my open roster spot

Is this trade worth it? Am I giving up too much? Any and all advice/opions are appreciated!

looks good to me.
Howard is right there or better in value than even a healthy Berkman. i expect Howard AVG to be better this season.
im not a fan of Atkins. his home/away splits last season were very different.. and even in small sample size this season are the same. home- .308/.308/.769/1.077/ away- .067/.118/.067/.184/ IF Colorado ends up trading him he could be a killer.
Holliday wont have AS GOOD of numbers with Oakland, but still pretty damn good. Ortiz had a health issue last season, that could be a concern.
getting Valverde helps you at closer.
you can afford to lose Santana. hes a risk this season even allready being injured. there was a write up a razzball.com prior to the season calling Santana a risk for this season. this is some of what it said.
He’s maintained steady pitch counts the last 3 years but his growing over-reliance on his slider (21% in ‘06 to 33% in ‘08) and near-abandoning of the changeup (9.6% to 3.9%) make him a riskier than average proposition in 2009.

the rest of the article is here if interested..

i would think its good.

I would do it, Howard is an upgrade on Berkman and Ortiz as both are injury risks, and ortiz's numbers slacked off last season if i remember correctly. and howard has A LOT of support in Philly. Valverde will solidify your RP as i am jsut waiting for BJ to either lose his job or get injured and Santana is a risk, and you may be able to sell him reasonably high due to his numbers last year.

thank you for your help with mine. i would do this -- you're selling high on berkman, who isn't as good howard. holliday is a big upgrade over ortiz. santana could be hit or miss, atkins i'm not thrilled with. valverde is the real deal, and consistent. i think you're getting the three best players in this trade. nice one ;-D

just an update...the SOB other manager pulled the deal right before I was about to accept the trade!

I sent him an e-mail flipping out! He told me that he wanted Ibanez in the deal too. I Told him that he was crazy and I am done dealing with him!!!!!!!

I am so angry right now!
