I know this isn't a good offer but I wanted to see if he would bite, so he came back with this counter offer
Armando Benitez, Braden Looper, and Miguel Tejada
for
Matt Mantei and Rafael Furcal
this offer obviously sucked so I rejected it
A couple of days later I make him another offer
Josh Beckett and Jay Gibbons
for
Magglio Ordonez
I felt this was a pretty good offer especially since he badly needed starting pitching, but he counters with this
Josh Beckett and Larry Walker
for
Jacque Jones
Whats with this guy, is he an idiot, is he just an awful trader? Is he so angered by my offers that he makes ridiculous counters. I don't think I'm gonna be making this guy any offers for a long time.
Heh. No offense, but your trade offers are pretty rediculous. Lots of owners get pissed off when you lowball them. They feel like you are insulting their intelligence.
Your comment: "I know this isn't a good offer, but I wanted to see if he would bite" is not the kind of thinking that will lead to lots of trades being made in your league.
Dude, you're offering him crap. If someone offered you a 6th rounder and a 14th rounder for your second rounder would you take him seriously? You're treating him like you think he's stupid, he's likely getting tired of it. If you think you're getting Ordonez from him you'd better be bringing a guy like Halladay or better.
I think the reason he was so pissed off is because he is not experienced and looks at rank. Becket is ranked at 145 but is much better then that. The payton becket for Magglio deal (in my opinion) was pretty good, especially if he needed the pitching.
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

I guess I am naive, but I don't waste my time making trade offers
that have(or should have) no chance of being accepted. I look to
offer a trade that helps the other owner and also helps me. Of course, I want to win, but my definition of winning is different than
many. If my team is better after the trade, I won. I don't want his
team to be worse, just make mine better. As a result, many of my
trades get accepted. Am I always right, no, but most of the time I
am.
