I'd say Hamilton's first round stock was more or less derived from his RBI total. Granted, he's carried a fairly high career ceiling, his production correlated with having a healthy Kinsler/Bradley in the lineup last year. His FB rate actually wasn't that impressive last year either, but what made him a 30+ HR hitter is the fact he hits half of the year in Arlington. 35-40 HR is possible, but unless his FB rates spike up a bit more, I see him settling into the same homerun figure as last season. Lineup protection is somewhat of a truism and so, I can see Lee and Hamilton having similar R/RBI, HR numbers with a marginal difference (if any) in average.

Anyway, I see the Spring, the WBC, and the first-plus week as a relatively small sample size to see if that finger is still bothering Lee. I'd say it's a bad streak and he hasn't been any stranger to those. He was on the verge of career years in '05-06 but slowed down some and settled for his usual. Likewise, I see Lee doing the same. I'd be more concerned if it's a wrist injury than I would've been with a finger anyway.

Hamilton is certainly a nice nuggett in return but I think felix and the best free agent you can find is probably better than young and johnson....2 guys who could wind up on waiver wires before the season is over.

I stay pat if I'm you.

you make a good point that it is indeed a small sample size, but its the only sample size we have of him post surgery. And if i show patience and wait say a month before deciding by then he could still be slumping and the other owner would have no interest. SImilarly if i do the trade now there is a chance he starts breaking out tomorrow. All in all he has about 5 extra base hits in his first 90 or so ABs post surgery, I mean from a guy that was so powerful before that is concerning.

Made the final decision tonight to turn this bad boy down after plenty of thought. There are a ton of reasons either way but I won't get into them, thanks to all of you who helped.. lol it was a long process. Let's go Carlos Lee and Felix hernandez.
