Per
the Boston Globe, Lowrie is to see a specialist on what to do about his wrist. The options are cortisone shots or one of two surgeries. If he went with the more drastic of the two surgeries, he'd be done for the year.
Not to steal from other forums, but a poster on
SOSH (Sons of Sam Horn, a Red Sox site) who is apparently an orthopedist opined that the shots wouldn't do anything, the less drastic surgery was chancy if it would work, and the last surgery would put Lowrie out for the year (which basically just reinforced, but expanded a little on, the news from the Globe).
The upshot seems to be that at the very minimum, Lowrie will be done for a couple of weeks by which time Lugo should be back. So in redraft leagues, Lowrie would be a safe person to cut at this point in time.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.
