Billingsley for Hart? WHIR as always

Postby Houser33 » Mon Apr 13, 2009 9:10 pm

Standard Yahoo lineups (+ a few bench spots) and standard scoring + OBP, BB's (pitchers), and holds. And it is a keeper league that allows us to retain any 5 players from our previous years' roster.

C: Suzuki
1B: Howard
2B: Matsui
SS: Theriot
3B: Wright
OF: Hamilton, Abreu, Kubel
Util: Berkman

Bench: J. Upton, LaPorta, Bonifacio

SP1: J. Santana
SP2: Billingsley
SP3: Bedard
RP1: Capps
RP2: Lindstrom
P: Baker
P: McClellan
P: Corpas

Bench: Cahill, Porcello

I know its not a question of having enough depth at SP, I clearly do. I guess the one thing that scares me is Hart's pourous OBP over the years. He does seem to be walking more this year though. If anyone has been watching him this year I'd be really curious to know if his approach has changed.

I also feel like I am not addressing positional needs. Statistically its a gravy trade, but if one of Upton/Kubel break out then I'm stuck with a log-jam in the OF(nobody wants Berkman btw). Upton's been crap but Kubel looks fully loaded for a breakout season and I also have LaPorta stashed away. Would I be better off trying to aquire an upgrade at C/2B/RP?

I know Harts numbers will help me offensively, but this trade basically boils down Kubel and Billingsley for Hart.

WHIR as always and thanks in advance.

I say YES, go for it!

I don't see Kubel really breaking out this yr! Whereas Hart is on fire and will keep on producing in the 2 hole. Billingsley is a great pitcher but you got more depth there than you do in your offense.

help plz

I would definitely go for this. I myself am very happy to be a Hart owner the past two years. So far it seems like he is gonna blow his walk numbers from last year out of the water. You have enough pitching depth to part with Bills. I don't see Upton or Kubel producing too much.

I think I would rather have Hart too, I think you make this trade.

Thx for the trade help

One word....Yes! No matter the format or league, Hart has twice the value of Bedard and since you have C Billy and Johan, no question's about it, do it.

Going to go against the grain here a bit.

I'd rather Billingsly (especially if this is a head-to-head league). Take a look at the Dodgers schedule for September. Then look at Hart's numbers last September.

Billingsley can be dominent. Hart is a very very nice outfielder. I'm partial to dominance i guess.

Thanks for your help on mine. I agree here. Hart's nice, but very up-and-down. Billingsley could be the 4th or 5th best pitcher in fantasy baseball this year, assuming he works on his walks, which I think he will. I don't see trading Billingsley for Hart helping you. If you can get a C or 2B, then you go for it (I'm a believer in position scarcity), but not for a dime-a-dozen OF. When Bedard gets a few more good starts under his belt, you probably will be able to sell him high and get close to Hart in return.
Thank you to soty for hooking me up with another awesome sig!

No on the trade
Billingley should get you Hart + another pitcher , In fact if you shopped him around to other owners you could get a better OF
