...she goes to a restaurant, looks at the menu and says "okay!"
Off to my trade question:
This is a 12 team league-redraft-standard cats + OPS and K/BB
This guy in my league is a Rangers homer and wants Nelson Cruz at any cost...I need pitching big time, so I am thinking of offering:
My Nelson Cruz for his Jake Peavy
C: Victor Martinez 1B: Mark Tex 2B: Chase Utley 3B: David Wright SS: Troy Tulo OF: Nick Markakis OF: Alfonso Soriano OF: Nelson Cruz UTIL: Jordan Schafer UTIL: Ryan Spilborghs BN: Orlando Hudson BN: Felipe Lopez DL: Joe Mauer
SP: Cliff Lee SP: Joba Chamberlain RP: Chad Qualls RP: Kyle McClellan P: Kevin Slowey P: Chris Carpenter P: Yovanni Gallardo P: Adam Wainewright BN: Chris Ray BN: Randy Johnson BN: Carlos Villanueva DL: Justin Duchscherer
I am pretty sure he will accept my offer and it almost seems like a no brainer, but I have high expectations for Cruz (.275-30-110-90-10), and who knows where Jake Peavy will end up, plus his health scares me
So...Would you do this trade if you were me? Do you think my offense will lose too much by the absence of Cruz? Why?
Thanks in advance. WHIR

I say keep Cruz, you will miss his bat. Besides, your pitching staff is not too bad, even though Lee has been getting rocked. Carpenter will be solid, and Joba will be good, and I am sure that Lee may turn it around.
Thanks for your help with mine.

Pull the trigger on this deal. See who you can pick up to replace Cruz. Once you get Peavy you can sell low on someone like Lee for another outfielder.
first, you don't need pitching desperately, but you will need a bat if you trade cruz.
try to snatch a quality bat along with peavy, since the other guy is a rangers homer. really try to rip him for the benefit of your team. if not, you will need to try to get another big bat through another trade or through the WW... and that depends on the size of your league.
I wouldnt do this deal. Not because it isnt a good value trade, but more because you are not addressing your team needs. The closers you have are downright scary (and not in a good way). You do have a good enough lineup that you could afford to lose Cruz, but you should be targetting a top 5 relief pitcher instead.
get Peavy for Nelson Cruz? ..and most are saying no? am i in the twilight zone? im going to have to go ahead and disagree with you not needing pitching. Lee is overrated. i would bet that his final numbers are closer to what he did in 2007 than what he did in 2008. i personally wouldnt want Lee in any way. i also think Chamberlain is overrated the way people get high on him. i wouldnt be surprised if the Yankees limit his innings because he started last season in the pen, plus he had an arm issue last season and i wouldnt be surprised if it happened again this season. i do really like Gallardo and Carpenter. Duchscherer seems like he is always going to be an injury concern. Johnson sucked today. i would think you need Peavy more than you need Cruz with the other bats in your lineup like Tex/Utley/Wright/Tulo/Markakis/Soriano. id do it.
