ok so 10 team yahoo 5x5 roto goodness, and with the extra roster spots basically you've got the same amount of players being used on 10 teams than you'd have on 12 teams with normal rosters. going into teh season it looked like my offense was a joke and my pitching was ohmygod-good, however, after the first week i lead the league in runs and HRs and am 4 off of the pace in RBIs, and my pitching is like 4.50/1.50 with only ~5 wins and ~5 saves and i'm like 4th or 5th in Ks... so take a look at what i have (instead of listing guys as bench, i'll put them in as positions)
C - ryan doumit
1B - jorge cantu / jason giambi / mike jacobs
2B - dan uggla, aaron hill, emilio bonifacio / ian strwart
SS - elvis andrus
3B - josh fields / adrian beltre / ian stewart / cantu / bonifacio
CI - any one of those 1B or 3B i feel like starting
MI - any one of those 2B or SS i feel like starting
OF - grady sizemore
OF - vladimir guerrero
OF - nelson cruz
OF - michael hawpe / lastings milledge / brad hawpe / carlos gomez / michael bourn
util - whoever out of the top i wanna use
SP - johan santana, tim lincecum, cole hamels, roy halladay, carlos zambrano
RP - bobby jenks, kevin gregg, troy percival, frank francisco, carlos marmol
i was just offered felipe lopez and chad billingsley for lincecum. obviously this guy sees that i have a 4.50/1.50 era without dominating win/K numbers (yet) and cole hamels scared the feces outta me with his start lincecum hasn't been lincecum yet and i've already traded matsuzaka for dan uggla. now i actually like billingsley, but if lincecum is lincecum man 265K and 17+ wins with a sub-3/sub-1.20 is proper... i'm not much on felipe lopez to bridge the gap between a stud and billingsley, however, one could argue maybe lincecum peaked last year and i think billingsley has done it for longer. which he has. lincecum dominated last year, whereas billingsley has 2 years of starting greatness, or well, 20 starts in 07 when he ended up 12-5 3.31/1.33 with 141K in 147IP, and last year he ended up 16-10 with a 3.14/1.34 with 201K in 200 IP... now that whip is high, but he's only given up 14 HR in those 200 IP last year, and 15 in those 147 IP in 07... hell only 7 in 90 IP for his 3.80/1.67 in his rookie year.
so it looks like he gives up hits and he walked 80 to those 201k.
lincecum managed 265K in 227 IP last year, going 18-5 2.62/1.17, with 11 HR, and in 07 he was 7-5 with 12 HR in 146 Ip with a 4.00/1.28. so looking at it, his WHIP is better than billingsley, and his K rate his higher, cuz even in his rookie year he was 150/65, and last year 265/84 in terms of K/BB.
looking at this guy's team, here's what he's got
C - pablo sandoval
1B - prince fielder
2B - chase uytley
3B - aramis ramirez
SS - stephen drew
CI - james loney
MI - felipe lopez
OF - andre ethier
OF - ryan braun
OF - jacoby ellsbury
OF - jayson werth
util - daniel murphy
bench - mike aviles
bench - edwin encarnacion
bench - kendry morales
DL - alex rodriguez
SP - justin masterson, kevin slowey, chad billingsley, james shields, kyle lohse, john maine, brandon webb, edwin jackson, hiroki kuroda
RP - carlos villaneueva, joakim soria, rafael soriano, brad ziegler, matt lindstrom
so like, seeing as he wants to get a bonafide #1 ace-type-dude in his lineup, is there anyone on there worth bilking with billingsley for a lincecum?!@ or would you consider doing hamels in place of lincecum?!@
obviously my gut says to stand pat, cuz felipe lopez isn't worth the potential difference between lincecum adn billingsley, that is, if lincecum is on. billingsley's 1.30+ whip isn't just undesirable for my whip stats, but it tells me akin to a matsuzaka he either pitches around people or just plain gets hit, and therefore his ERA COULD go up to like 3.75+ with some different luck,... but billingsley was a first round pick (24th overall) so the pedigree for ace-like-performance is there...
i dunno what do y'all think?@!# thats why i ask
