Does this team have what it takes?

Postby PokerMike4283 » Mon Apr 13, 2009 1:58 pm

I am in a Yahoo public league with 12 teams. Stats are as regular (HR, RBI, etc.). I was wondering if you could tell me what my team is lacking and overall, if you think it has enough to win a championship...finally. I personally feel this is my best team ever. I won my first matchup 6-2-2 so I'm off to a good start. Thanks in advance.

I think you have a good team but you are lacking in a few key areas. First of all Mike Napoli is still sharing time with Jeff Mathis, I like Napoli and think he should be the full time catcher, monitor this situation closely and see what happens. Also, you are going to struggle with saves, (Aardsma will share saves with Morrow.) If you can sure up these 2 areas I think you have a good shot at winning your league.

So who do I think I should go for for another closer? And who should I reasonably give up to get him? I like Napoli also and think he will retain full-time catcher duties. He is too good to share duties all year long.

Its a tough call, you don't have trade bait. I would say to trade Dye, he is on my team also and I am trying to shop him. Look to see which teams in your league have a bunch of closers stockpiled, you don't need a top tier closer but go for a someone like Kerry Wood possibly. If you deal Dye you can put Randy Winn into your starting lineup, I think he is an underrated player who will also give you a bunch of steals. See if anyone Also, I would dump Endy Chavez he won't keep up the hot hitting and i'm sure there are some other solid players available on your WW.

Well, I am going to try and trade Dye for a closer like you said. Heres' to hoping. What do I do with Chavez and Aardsma? Who should I look to replace them?
