Berkman for Martin, Blalock and Ludwick

Postby goodburger232 » Mon Apr 13, 2009 12:13 am

Hey guys,
got another trade proposal today, kind of iffy about this one, would definitely plug some holes though.
I'm in a pure points league, currently 2nd to last.
The Trade is as follows:

1B Lance Berkman
For
C,3B Russell Martin + 1B,3B Hank Blalock + CF Ryan Ludwick

I'm having trouble parting with Berkman, he's such a good earner!

My current lineup is as follows:

C A.J. Pierzynski
1B Lance Berkman
2B Brian Roberts
3B Edwin Encarnacion
SS Hanley Ramirez
CF EMPTY
OF Matt Holliday
OF Corey Hart
Util Rafael Furcal
BN Billy Butler
BN Khalil Greene
BN BJ Upton (DL)
BN Yunel Escobar
BN Matt Wieters
BN Milton Bradley
BN Travis Snider

Pitching:
SP James Shields
SP Ricky Nolasco
SP Zack Greinke
SP Paul Maholm
RP Francisco Rodriguez
RP Huston Street
BN Rick Porcello
BN Max Scherzer (DL)
BN Chad Qualls
DL Scott Baker

Thanks guys, appreciate any and all feedback!

hmm.. berkman > blalock, martin > pierzynski, ludwick > no one.

the things that stand out for me are:

1) you have weiters on the way up, who will scatter his enemies before him (you'll have to move one of him or martin to the bench/ or trade). that being said, stud catchers are always in demand and get primo trade value...

2) you have a nice outfield and ludwick would be a bench player once you plug upton and bradley in

3) you'd have to drop two players to make room for all the extra stuff he's throwing at you. not sure if anyone on your roster is worth that.

i'd stay put for now. if he wants to throw in two more people to make it an even exchange, then you can talk business. ;-D

I agree you have Weinters and AJ so there is no point to bring in Martin. You'll be hurting later on if Blalock doesn't last. Ludwick would be a good additon to your OF but not at the expense of a severe downgrade at 1B and overloading you at C.

no. unless ur team massively sucks or is hurt, dont trade a star for depth.

lots of CF are available in most leagues: fowler, span, spills, whatever whatever, just look on depth charts
