Good News for Hanson owners?

Postby angels7777 » Sun Apr 12, 2009 4:39 pm

PEARL, Miss. -- Atlanta Braves left-hander Tom Glavine ended his minor league start with Double-A Mississippi early on Sunday after experiencing shoulder discomfort.

The 43-year-old Glavine had expected to throw 50 to 60 pitches, but left after only 36 in two innings. He gave up three hits, including a solo home run, with one walk and no strikeouts against Carolina.

Glavine earned a spot in the Braves' rotation in spring training but began the season on the disabled list until the Braves need a fifth starter.

He's returning from offseason surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left elbow. He also had what was regarded as a less serious surgery to clean out his left shoulder.

The Braves said Glavine's condition would be evaluated following his return to Atlanta.

Dont think its coming just quite yet.

Campillo will most likely fill in for now.

I think Hanson is still a good 4-6 weeks away....

Looks like its going to be Jo-Jo Reyes on Saturday. Glavine is headed to Dr. Andrews.

Now that could be good news for Hanson owners. If Tommy G is done & this is a long term thing I think Hanson will come up. Give him one more AAA start & find out for sure the Glavine deal & if it is indeed the end....its really only the beginning. ;-D

how would a long term injury to Glavine mean anything different? The Braves seem willing to go with Reyes and Campillo before Hanson. Hanson is going to need to continue to dominate for a couple more starts in addition to the Glavine injury to even get any kind of chance to be called up...

Hopefully Hanson will be on his way in May. I have heard rumors about that, but mainly from overly-hyped Hanson owners like myself.

Well Dr. Andrews is indeed Dr. Death.... At least it's his shoulder, not elbow??? Doesn't Dr. Andrews kill more pitchers with elbow diagnosis than shoulder?.... Who cares, I've got Hanson. I never wish for a player to get hurt, or end a career or anything, but I wanna see Hanson pitch in the bigs! Go Tommy! (not John's)

Sounds like Glavine's career is over if his shoulder is not better in 2 weeks...
